Tanya is an engagement specialist and a First Nation member of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. Tanya and her siblings are the first to not attend a residential school in the past two generations of her family. Having seen first-hand the depth of trauma and oppressive conditions placed on First Nation people, Tanya has committed her personal and professional life to promoting and advocating for equality. With 16 years of social justice experience in non-profit and governmental sectors, Tanya has acquired skills in community capacity development, strategic planning, and project design with a proven history of successfully developing health and justice programs and services. She has strong communication skills and uses them for conflict resolution, mentorship, and coaching. Evaluation and critical thinking for decision making, determining efficiencies and risks/barriers are also her strengths, along with organizational and time management focusing on prioritization and timelines. She thrives in roles requiring leadership, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
