Melinda is an advocate both by training and by disposition.  Trained as a lawyer and mediator, Melinda was a litigator for fifteen years in human rights and employment law in BC before becoming Windsor, Ontario’s first Diversity and Accessibility Officer. Under her leadership, Windsor was the second city in Canada to join the Canadian Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities. Since 2008 she has specialized in helping governments and not for profits pursue excellence in the delivery of services with a focus on how the service actually improves the community. Any public service from water treatment to road construction to social services can be done better when planned and executed with an equity lens. Melinda is also an expert in community governance and in creating models of practice which, while complying with applicable law, also recognize the unique ways of knowing and deciding within different communities. With an attention to detail and as project manager on many large projects, Melinda also brings a strong organizational presence and excels at delivering projects on time and on budget.
